Is there a free tier?: Yes. The free plan covers a generous quota of single-post saves at full quality with no watermark. See pricing for limits and the paid tiers.
Do I need to install anything?: No. The web app works in any modern browser. The Chrome extension is optional and adds a Save button to the page you’re already on, but it’s not required to use socials.download.
What platforms does it work on?: Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), Facebook, VSCO, Reddit, Pinterest, Threads, Tumblr, Bluesky, Twitch clips, and Vimeo.
Where do my files go?: When you save through the web app, the file streams directly to your browser as a normal download. The extension delivers files into your Chrome Downloads folder, organised under socials.download/<creator>/Videos and socials.download/<creator>/Pictures.
Do you store the files I save?: On Free, no. Saves stream through and aren’t persisted beyond the few seconds it takes to deliver the file. On Pro, files stay in your re-download library for 30 days; on Studio, 90 days. After the retention window the file is permanently deleted. We never archive, analyse, or share the content you save regardless of plan.
Can I save a creator’s entire profile at once?: Yes, on the Pro plan. Paste a profile @handle, pick a platform, and we'll queue every public post and stream the files to a zip. See pricing.
Is there a keyboard shortcut in the extension?: Yes. Alt+Shift+S on any supported page triggers the same Save action as clicking the floating button. Rebind from chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
Can I save metadata alongside files?: Yes. Pro users get a matching .json sidecar with each saved file containing the platform, account, source URL, caption, and timestamps. Useful for archivists and research.
How does TikTok live recording work?: TikTok live recording lives in the Chrome extension. Open a TikTok live URL (tiktok.com/@user/live), click Record, and the stream captures to your Downloads folder when you stop or when the stream ends. Each tab records independently so you can capture multiple streams at once.
